Harley Flat track Racer
This is a project we have discussed and have wanted for a long time. It will be our attempt at paying homage to the legendary Harley Davidson XR750 from the late 1970s.
The XR750 has become widely considered to be the most successful racebike in motorcycle racing history. And We have the chance to build this iconic motorcycle.
Our donor bike is a 1997 XL1200 Sporty. Wayne has already made up a long wish list of parts we will be fitting to this ride. From beefing up the motor with an S & S Cycles 1250 Hooligan kit, a S & S Super E carburetor, and a full exhaust system. And loads of other rad parts and a killer custom paint job to top it all off.
While I started writing this, Wayne had started chopping and changing everything. He went about removing all the unnecessary parts and dug up an old Z650 rear Kawasaki tailpiece which he cut and modified to fit. The rear shocks were repositioned for a racier look and a better stance.
We have already fitted 19″ flat track tires and added spoked rims compared to the original mag rims.
We got an old Sporster Custom gas tank and cut and welded the bottom for the correct flat look.
But that’s it for now. Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, we should have some progress shots and kickass parts to show you all!
